Generous associate support assisted Ashlee in her fellowship.

Ashlee Stevens has been an important part of the nursing staff at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital since the day she graduated. For the past five years, she has served in leadership as the Director of Emergency Services. In her 11 years of nursing, Ashlee has seen a lot of changes in health care, especially in the past two years as the hospital has dealt with a global pandemic.

“Every day, health care is changing, and you have to be willing to adapt to those changes and stay as up-to-date as possible,” Ashlee said.

When she learned the Virginia Nurses Association was instituting a Nurse Leadership Academy, Ashlee jumped at the chance to expand her leadership skills.

“Gaining a different perspective and understanding in leadership will allow me the opportunity to become more well-rounded as a leader and mentor for my team,” she said.

Ashlee was able to enroll in the one-year fellowship because of associate’s generous donations to the Foundation’s Staff Education Fund. Thanks to you, she will be part of the very first graduating class for the Academy. She is grateful for the opportunity, because she knows the importance continuing education plays in providing superior patient care.

“Continuing education is one of the most important aspects in health care and I thank you and the Staff Education Fund for giving all of us the opportunity to continue our training and allowing us to provide the best care possible for our patients.”
