Mercy Health Foundation Clark & Champaign Counties

You helped Joe get life-saving medications he couldn’t afford.

Because of generous contributions from associates to the Med Assist program, decisions between groceries and medications are a little easier to make for people like Joe. Mercy Health Med Assist is the only prescription and medical support program in Clark and Champaign counties, and it is completely funded by donations.

Joe’s first experience with Med Assist was when they were able to help his mother with prescriptions needed for a number of health issues, including cancer. Not long after that, you also helped Joe with his medical needs, too.

“There are a lot of people out there who have to choose between their medicine and eating,” Joe said. “I have a lot of medical conditions including heart issues and cancer—this program is a huge help to me.”

Joe does his own part in giving to the community, as well. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Joe was a long-time volunteer at Mercy Health—Urbana Hospital, and he is looking forward to returning to that role as soon as he can.

In the meantime, he wants you to know how much he appreciates your contributions.

“I want to let donors know how important this program is. A lot of people must make really tough choices, but Med Assist alleviates that burden. There are so many people who need that help.”
