Fund Descriptions

Cancer Care:

Supports the needs of oncology services across Mercy Health Youngstown and the patients they serve.

Youngstown Market Greatest Need:

Provides the flexibility to meet urgent needs as they arise.

Hospice of the Valley:

Provides quality compassionate end of life care for the terminally ill as well as support for the family.

Joanieā€™s Promise:

Ensures that any woman in the Mahoning Valley has access to diagnostic breast services regardless of ability to pay.

Nursing Scholarship Fund:

Provides scholarships for the next generation of caregivers.

Opioid Initiative:

Provides peer recovery support workers in emergency departments, substance abuse prevention programs in local schools, ongoing education for physicians and SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention and referral to Treatment) training for health care professionals.

Social Determinants of Health Initiative:

Supports programs related to how our health and well-being is directly connected to where we live, work, learn.

Healthy Babies:

Supports Resource Mothers and Centering Pregnancy, two programs that target the high rate of infant mortality in the Mahoning Valley.

Man Up Mahoning Valley:

Through a variety of community events throughout Mahoning and Trumbull counties, Man Up raises awareness about the importance of routine prostate cancer screenings. Many free prostate cancer screenings take place during these events.

St. Joseph Warren Hospital Expansion:

St. Joseph Warren Hospital is expanding and getting a new home. Mercy Health Youngstown plans to build a new, 241-bed hospital and medical office complex next to the Kent State University at Trumbull campus in Warren.

Caring for Our Own Fund:

Provides aid to associates facing financial hardships.
